Day 1: Hanoi - Hai Phong - Cat Ba
5.30 am: Leave Hanoi for Hai Phong. Breakfast in Hai Phong. Take 1-hr hydrofoil to Cat Ba Island. Upon arrival in Cat Ba we check in hotel and spend the rest of the day to explore the town or relax on Cat Co beaches. Overnight on Cat Ba Island.

Day 2: Trek Cat Ba National Park - Overnight on junk in Halong Bay
Breakfast in the hotel before taking a beautiful bus ride along the coast to reach Cat Ba national park. Today we will have a long trek across dense jungle to reach the peaceful village of Viet Hai. Short break at Frog Lake. We will have lunch in a local house in Viet Hai village. After lunch we walk to Viet Hai Quay for a cruise on Lan Ha Bay. We will meet our overnight junk in Halong Bay late afternoon. Dinner and overnight on the junk.

Day 3: Kayaking Halong Bay
After breakfast on the junk we start paddling to Van Chai Floating village and then continue paddling to Dark Cave. Tide permitting, we explore this amazing cave by kayak. The cave is a 200m long, dark tunnel thrusting through a limestone mountain. The tunnel is the only entry to a secluded and beautiful lagoon. Lunch on support boat in front of the cave. After lunch we paddle to Ba Trai Dao Lagoon, along a stunning and fairly rough sea channel, to explore its beautiful beaches. Continue paddling to Lan Ha Bay, which is smaller than Halong Bay but much more interesting with lots of secluded beaches. Cruise back to Halong Bay for dinner and overnight on mother boat

Day 4: Halong Bay - Hanoi
Breakfast on the junk and enjoy the sundeck of the junk while she navigates amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay to get back to Halong City. Lunch on the junk before reach Halong Harbor for a drive back to Hanoi. On the way back to Hanoi we will have a stop in Dong Trieu Town for refreshment and visiting to a ceramic factory. Trip completes in Hanoi.

Food
All meals, which are indicated in the itinerary, are included in the price of this trip. Since we are in the sea our meals are mainly dominated by fresh seafood. Please inform us if you have any special dietary requirement.

Hotel on Cat Ba Island
On Cat Ba Island we use the best 3-star hotel looking over Cat Ba Bay.

The junk
The beautiful Chinese junk functions as a hotel and we would share it with other travelers. We will get twin shared cabin with AC and restroom.
The next day when we go kayaking a smaller wooden boat will support us the whole day.

SR tour guide
The tour will be guided by one of our tour guides who are experienced in guiding kayaking tours in Halong Bay. He has been carefully trained in this field and is fully licensed in tour guiding by the government. In addition, he has been trained in first-aid by SOS International and he knows how to deal with difficult situations. You will have a great time traveling with him.

The kayak
On this trip we use hard-cell, tandem kayak. Paddle, life-jacket and dry bag are available

The kayaking day
A typical kayaking day starts at about 8.00 am after breakfast. Lunch will be served on support boat. At the end of a kayaking day, we would return to the junk by 5 pm or 5.30 pm.

What to bring
Sun block, hat, anti-insect repellent, sunglasses, rain coat, original passport.
