Explore the many faces of feudal monarchies in Southeast Asia from Vietnam, Champa to Khmer. The great value that the trip offers is an opportunity to see World Cutural Heritage sites including a large number of spectacular monuments at the Hue Royal Citadel, the ancient town of Hoi An, the My Son Holy Land and the Angkor complex. The exquisite sculptures and bas-relief works that adorn these temples and buildings reflect the convergence of two great civilisations of the world: China and India. The daily activities seen on this trip can give visitors an insight into the local inhabitants� cultures. Day 1: Arrival in Da Nang Hue

Arrive at Da Nang Airport. Pick up and transfer to Hue (110km) with a stop-over on the Hai Van Pass overlooking the scenic Lang Co lagoon. Hue was Vietnams royal capital from 1802 to 1945 under 13 kings of the Nguyen Dynasty. An afternoon sightseeing tour focuses on the Imperial Citadel, built in 1804 on a site chosen in accordance with the principles of geomancy, and the Dong Ba Market, famous for its best conical hats in Vietnam. Day 2: Hue (B, D)

Enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Hue with ancient monuments and romantic scenery of the Perfume River. First, visit the tombs of King Khai Dinh (ruled 1916 1925) and King Minh Mang (ruled 1820 1840) which show the contrast between Oriental and Occidental architectures. Then, take a boat ride on the Perfume River to Hon Chen Temple and Thien Mu Pagoda, surveying rural landscape at sunset. Lunch of Hue specialties is served on board. In the evening, a typical royal court dinner with ancient dancing and music is arranged (minimum group size: 10). O/N in Hue.

Day 3: Hue Hoi An (B)

Transfer to Hoi An (150km). Admire beautiful landscape on the road through the Hai Van Pass. Panoramic views of the clouds, the sea and the mountains around are unfolded from the summit. Spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool side, lounging on the sandy beach or visiting the stone-carving village of Non Nuoc and the Cham Sculpture Museum where a variety of ancient and modern sculpted articles is displayed. Day 4: Excursion to My Son & Hoi An (B)

Make a day trip to explore two World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 1999. First, travel over rural roads to My Son (70km), where architectural treasures and sculptures of Cham culture dating from the 7th to the 13th century can be discovered. Then transfer to Hoi An for a leisurely walk around the centuries-old town with ancient houses, temples, markets and handicraft workshops. Return to Hoi An. O/N in Hoi An.

Day 5: Hoi An - Danang
Siem Reap (B)

In the morning, spend last minutes for downtown shopping (stone-carvings, silk, paintings...) or at leisure before check-out. In the afternoon, transfer to Danang Airport for a short flight to Siem Reap (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as per the 2002 flight schedule). Pick up and transfer to a hotel. Siem Reap was the capital of the Khmer Kingdom from the 10th to the 16th century. The majestic temples of Angkor in Siem Reap are now in the World Cultural Heritage list. Late in the afternoon, enjoy sunset from the top of Phnom Bakheng Hill with a panoramic view of the western Baray and Angkor Wat. O/N in Siem Reap.

Day 6: Siem Reap (B)

In the morning, visit temples of the Roluos Group which served as the capital under King Indravarman I (ruled 877-889), 9th-century Preah Ko Temple, Bakong Temple and Lolei Temple. In the afternoon, explore exquisite brick monuments such as Prasat Kravan, Pre Rup, Eastern Mebon, Neak Pean and Preah Khan. O/N in Siem Reap.

Day 7: Siem Reap (B)

The morming highlight focuses on Angkor Thom comprising the Southern Gate, the famous Bayon complex, Elephant Terrace, Leper King Terrace and Ta Prohm. In the afternoon, visit the famous 12th-century temples of Angkor Wat covering 81 hectares with its distinctive five towers emblazoned on the Cambodian flag. O/N in Seam Reap.

Day 8: Departure from Siem Reap (B)

Spend last minutes for downtown shopping (wood & stone carvings, silk,...) or at leisure before check-out. Transfer to the airport for departure.
